Our 3rd Anniversary

This year we celebrated our third anniversary! We were going to be finishing our trip with the Mellors to Red Fish Lake on our anniversary and so we arranged for Tristan's parents to take Lucy and Saren home with them to Washington while we had a weekend to ourselves. We decided to check out Boise, Idaho just because we had never really explored there very much and it is about halfway between our house in Rexburg and Mom and Dad's house in Kennewick.

We found a hotel near downtown and we looked up what there was to do for the next couple of days. We had our bikes with us from the Red Fish Lake trip and so we decided to explore by bike. Boise has some very nice parks all over downtown with bike trails connecting all of them. We biked around on the trails stopping at some museums and other things around town. Eventually we ran through some thorns and all four of our bike tires went flat. Bummer.

We found some "swan" boats in one of the parks and took a ride around the pond. We had our raft with us from our last trip too so we pumped it up and took it out on the river one day and another time we went bridge jumping with some teenagers. Boise State University is right near where we were and so we checked it out a little bit for possible graduate school in the future.

We really enjoyed the time we spent in Boise. The weather was great and the town was really neat. Tristan is in love with it and is convinced she wants to live there someday. You never know.

Riding around one of the parks.

We worked simultaneously on some block puzzles at the science museum and Tristan finally finished first.

Making parts of our bodies disappear on a green screen. Makes me want to be a weatherman.

Fun at the science museum.

Romantic "swan" paddle boat ride.

We went high class for our anniverary dinner to our favorite restaurant, P.F. Chang's. We are always so careful about spending money and can never afford to go to expensive restaurants, but we decided to enjoy ourselves and not worry about what the bill would be. We told our waitress that it was our anniversary and apparently she told her manager about it. While we were eating our meal and just enjoying our time alone and without the responsibilities of home, the manager came to our table, chatted with us for a few minutes and then declared that the meal was on him. We got our whole meal for free! Wow! It was so cool! What a great anniversary gift.
